Product Overview

Drain couplings are essential components in plumbing and drainage systems.  Designed to perform in situations where there is reduced resistance to heavy earth loads or unstable ground and to connect pipes of similar or slightly varying diameters, providing a watertight seal and accommodating slight misalignment’s and providing flexibility in the pipeline.

Key Points:

Material and Size

VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings are constructed using EPDM (Elastomeric Rubber) and come in a size range of 100-385mm, making them adaptable to a wide range of pipe sizes.

Key Points:

Construction and Seal

The EPDM material used in VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings ensures a flexible but secure and leak-proof seal for 100 years, outlasting the life of the pipe.

The VDC couplings use high quality stainless steel tension bands that when tightened down to the correct torque settings create a leak proof seal, and can withstand internal pressures up to 0.6 bar, constant working pressure.

Applications and common uses

VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings serve a variety of applications, including joining plain-ended pipes, repairing damaged sections of pipes, accommodating different pipe diameters, connecting lateral and post sections, and introducing rocker pipes to external structures or manholes.

Key Points:

Compliance and Certifications

VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings meet a range of international standards and certifications, including BS EN295-4, WIS 4-41-01, DIBT/MPA (Germany), VA (Scandinavia), WSAA – AS/NZS 4327 (Australasia), and BS EN16397. These certifications validate the quality and reliability of the product.

Key Points:

Product Sizing and Variations

VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings are available in various size ranges with corresponding widths, ensuring that you can select the appropriate coupling for your specific pipe diameter.

In environments with a higher risk of corrosion or contaminated ground, VIPSeal® VDC Drain Couplings can be supplied with nitrile sleeves.

You can also opt for 316SS Tension Bands for increased corrosion resistance.

Installation

The installation guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough of how to install VIPSeal® VSC Standard Couplings. It covers everything from cutting the pipe to achieving a complete watertight seal, ensuring that users can install the couplings correctly and efficiently.

Recommend Torque Settings

To create a leak free seal it is recommended to Torque the tension bands down between 6 N-m.

Failure to tighten the tension bands to specification can lead to the incorrect installation of the coupling and risk of leaks and failure.
