What is a VIPSeal® Coupling or Adaptor?
A VIPSeal® Coupling is a flexible rubber coupling designed to connect two pipes, be it the same size and material, or different diameters or material. When used to repair a damaged drainage pipe, there are several benefits of using such a coupling to aid in the repair, including:
- Simple and quick installation: VIPSeal® Couplings and Adaptors are easy to install and can be done quickly with minimal tools and equipment. This means that repairs can be completed faster, reducing the amount of time the drainage system is out of use.
- Durability: VIPSeal® Couplings and Adaptors are made from high-quality materials, such as EPDM or FKM, and are finished off with 304 or 316 Stainless Steel tension and shear bands. This makes them highly durable and a long-lasting solution for repairing or connecting drainage pipes due to their ability to withstand harsh conditions. If installed correctly a VIPSeal® Couplings can last 100 years, outlasting that of the pipes connected to it.
- Flexible design: VIPSeal® Couplings and Adaptors are designed to be flexible, which allows them to accommodate slight variations in pipe size and misalignment. This means that even if the damaged section of the pipe and the replacement pipe is not perfectly aligned, the coupling can still create a secure and watertight seal.
- Cost-effective: Using a VIPSeal® Coupling or Adaptor to repair a damaged drainage pipe is typically more cost-effective than replacing the entire pipe. This is down to the ability to remove the damaged section and replace it with a new pipe as opposed to replacing a full section of pipe. The cost savings become more notable when the repair is situated in an area where patios and extensions have been placed, or inside a property, where the ability to dig up the old pipe is not a feasible option.
- Versatility: VIPSeal® Couplings and Adaptors can be used to connect pipes made from a wide range of materials, including PVC, Cast Iron, Clay or Concrete, this becomes very useful when connecting new PVC drainage systems to historic clay systems seen in many applications.
Overall, using a VIPSeal® Coupling or Adaptor to repair a damaged drainage pip is a cost-effective, durable, and long-lasting solution that can be installed quickly and easily with limited disruption.
