PUDDLE FLANGE VIPSEAL VPF
Puddle Flanges for Watertight Pipe Penetrations

When a pipe passes through concrete, the gap around it can become a weak point. Water or gas can track along the outside of the pipe if the area is not sealed properly.

That is where puddle flanges come in.

VIPSeal puddle flanges help seal pipe penetrations through concrete walls, floors and other structures. They create a barrier around the outside of the pipe and help stop water or gas ingress.

They are a simple but important part of many construction and drainage projects.

Where are puddle flanges used?

Puddle flanges are used where pipework passes through concrete and a watertight seal is needed.

Typical applications include:

  • concrete walls
  • basements
  • tanks
  • manholes
  • shafts
  • foundation plates
  • floors
  • ceilings

They are suitable for domestic, commercial and civil engineering projects.

Suitable for many pipe materials

VIPSeal puddle flanges can be used with a wide range of standard pipe materials. These include:

  • steel
  • plastic
  • clay
  • concrete
  • cast iron

For best results, the outside surface of the pipe should be clean and smooth where the flange will sit.

Sizes from 20mm to 3200mm

The VIPSeal range covers pipe outside diameters from 20mm to 3200mm.

This makes the range suitable for small drainage jobs as well as larger infrastructure projects.

Smaller sizes are supplied with stainless steel tension bands. Larger sizes use clamping bands, stainless steel clamps and a clamping tool.

Larger sizes are also available on request.

EPDM as standard, NBR also available

VIPSeal puddle flanges are made in EPDM as standard.

EPDM offers good weather resistance, ozone resistance and general chemical resistance. For applications that need resistance to oil or petrol, NBR is also available.

This gives installers and specifiers more choice depending on the job.

Quick and simple to install

VIPSeal puddle flanges are quick to install.

The flange fits onto the outside of the pipe before the concrete is poured. Once in place, it helps form a seal around the pipe penetration.

For pipes up to 315mm diameter, installers can tighten the band using a screwdriver or 6mm nut driver. Larger sizes require a clamping tool.

The pipe must be supported correctly during the concrete pour, as puddle flanges do not provide axial restraint.

Concrete coverage should be at least 50mm against each side of the puddle flange, using waterproof concrete.

Tested up to 10 bar

Depending on size, VIPSeal puddle flanges are tested up to 10 bar water pressure.

This gives added confidence in applications where sealing performance matters.

A practical sealing detail for new construction

Puddle flanges may be a small part of the build, but they play an important role.

They help protect structures from unwanted water or gas ingress where pipes pass through concrete.

Whether the application is a basement, manhole, tank, shaft or concrete wall, VIPSeal puddle flanges offer a practical and reliable sealing option.
